Leeds Building Society raises funds for Asthma UK this autumn
Leeds Building Society is delighted to be supporting Asthma UK by selling pin badges of the children’s T.V. character Bagpuss. All of the Society’s 65 national branches are participating by offering the Bagpuss pin badges, for a suggested donation of £1, until Friday 16th December 2011.
Asthma affects 5.4 million people in the UK, this equates to 1 in 5 households, 1 in 12 people and 1 in 11 children. It leads to 200 emergency hospital admissions every day, and three people a day die from asthma. Furthermore, 90% of the deaths from asthma are preventable.
Ali Young, Corporate Partnerships Executive at Asthma UK said, "We are delighted that Leeds Building Society is selling our Bagpuss pin badges. The saggy old cloth cat remains very popular with people of all ages, and the funds raised will go towards raising vital funds for Asthma UK."
Paul Kaye, General Manager Sales at Leeds Building Society said, "We are very pleased to be supporting Asthma UK by selling their Bagpuss pin badges. They are available now in our branches, for a suggested donation of £1, until Friday 16th December.
"This campaign provides a great opportunity for our staff and customers to raise awareness of this very common condition, whilst raising essential funds towards research and prevention."
