Using the Albion Cheque Account The Albion Cheque Account is easy to use, either by post or by calling into any of our branches. The following information will help you to get things running smoothly. Regular payments from your account Let the convenience of standing orders and Direct Debits take the pain out of paying regular bills. These can be paid easily by Direct Debit or standing order. You can also use a standing order to transfer funds to another account. To set up a standing order write to Banking Services, call our helpline on 0113 225 7755 or visit one of our branches. For any Direct Debit simply contact the organisation you want to pay. They will send out the instructions and you will need to return completed forms to them. You can change or cancel payment instructions on your Albion Cheque Account at any Leeds Building Society branch. Alternatively, send your instructions direct to Banking Services. Making payments into your account Cheques can be paid in at any Leeds Building Society branch or you can send them by post using the pre-paid envelopes provided. The Society will not be liable for any items lost in the post. Cheques being paid into the account should be crossed ‘account payee only’ and made payable to:
Your account number should be written on the back. You can withdraw funds on the eighth working day after the cheque is received by us and you will earn interest on cheques paid in from the third bank working day. The Albion Cheque Account cannot accept payments in the form of cash (either sterling or foreign currency), cheques from foreign banks or in foreign currency and foreign currency travellers cheques. Withdrawing money from your account Withdrawals from your account can be made by cheque or telegraphic transfer. No cash withdrawals are permitted. When you open the account, a cheque book and£250 cheque guarantee card (subject to approval of your application) will be ordered for you. For joint accounts, a cheque book and card can be arranged for both of you. Replacement cheque books will be sent to you automatically. Transferring funds Cleared monies can be transferred from your Albion Cheque Account to another Leeds Building Society investment account at any time. Transfers can be made into your Albion Cheque Account from another investment account held at the Society. Telegraphic transfers and transfers of cleared funds from other Leeds Building Society accounts attract interest from the day of receipt. You can move money to another bank or building society either by cheque, standing order or by telegraphic transfer. Telegraphic transfers A telegraphic transfer is a secure and fast way to transfer large amounts of money
between financial organisations. A telegraphic transfer can only be made to an account If you need to stop a cheque Cheques that have not been presented for payment can be stopped by contacting
our helpline on 0113 225 7755. We won’t be able to stop a cheque that has been
guaranteed using your Albion Cheque Guarantee Card unless it is for more than £250. Important notes Investments in this account will represent shares in the Society and are subject to the Rules of the Leeds Building Society subscribes to the Banking Code which sets out standards of good banking practice for banks and building societies.
